Sophomore Akua Sackey had herself A DAY on Saturday at the Kenny Randle Invite hosted by Lawrence Central. Facing her stiffest competition yet these season, Akua was up for the challenge and SHOWED OUT. In the 100m final, facing multiple athletes with current top-10 marks in Indiana, Akua shot out of the blocks and won in a NEW SCHOOL RECORD time of 12.09. This mark broke the previous record of 12.10 held jointly by Jaryn Hamilton(2006) and Alexus Mobley(2017). Then later in the day running in her 5th race of the meet, Akua blazed to a victory in the 200m running a time of 25.01, besting her own school record in the process. Currently Akua's times in the 100 and 200 put her in the top-5 marks in the state of Indiana and also qualified her for the New Balance National meet this summer in Philadelphia, held at historic Franklin Field on the University of Pennsylvania campus.
